Frank is trying to put his fractured family back together by buying a modest house in a popular neighbourhood. While kids Fulton and Kevin are adjusting into their new house, wife Melanie is trying to make the best of a bad situation. Infuriating his father, Kevin becomes especially angry and withdraws into his musical world. When exploring the house, Kevin discovers Ernest in the attic. When Ernest, a quiet ghost tries to scare someone, he instead runs into a young child who is trying to understand his situation. As Frank acquires video evidence of Ernest, he uploads it online where it quickly becomes popular. The family is strained as a result of this disclosure and the C.I.A. expresses interest which prompts Leslie to reconsider her original plan to use specialised equipment to record a ghostly presence.
