Asteroid City 2023

It’s 1955, and Augie, a photojournalist, is travelling across the American southwest with his children, including stargazer Woodrow, to find the strength to tell them their mother has died. Augie’s car breaks down in Asteroid City, causing him to seek assistance from his father-in-law, Stanley. While waiting, he finds himself in a strange environment complete with a meteor crater and the occasional A-bomb test. Others soon arrive in the desert town to celebrate the meteor that constructed the roadside attraction, including teacher June, actress Midge, General Grif, and father J.J. When an alien arrives to remove the asteroid, the government enforces a quarantine period, requiring visitors to deal with personal worries and form relationships while trapped inside Asteroid City’s vacuum for weeks.
