Elderly Milton, who is cared for by his daughter Denise and lives alone in Boonton, Pennsylvania, keeps a tight regimen that includes watching television and gardening. Denise is growing concerned about her father’s memory issues. Milton wants nothing more than to be left alone, only sometimes bumping into Sandy and Joyce, his next door neighbors. But one night, a flying saucer crashes into his lawn, disturbing his peaceful existence. A short, blue extraterrestrial named Jules, who loves apple slices and has a blank look, steps out of the spacecraft. After Milton invites Jules into his home and makes an effort to connect with the visitor, Sandy and Joyce swiftly join the group in an effort to interact with an unexpected visitor. As authorities search for a misplaced satellite, Milton tries to help Jules with ship repairs in an effort to help the alien who has given him a lot of excitement and made him reflect on his own life.
