The premise of Dave Franco’s most recent movie, Somebody I Used to Know is predictable. Anyone who has ever dabbled in romantic comedies or merely watched a few Hallmark movies will quickly recognise the typical beats of a career driven woman travelling back to her hometown and encountering her ex—the one that got away. Franco, who co-wrote the script with Alison Brie who plays the major character in the movie has created something that is more unusual than traditional.
