The narrative takes place in 2012, when Omaha-based auto mechanic Dave Kroupa is single and ready to go out following a breakup. Through a dating service, he meets Liz Golyar, a woman with a fondness for bowling and a rebellious streak demonstrated by old film of her turning off security cameras.
