Tom and Charlie, two half-brothers who grew up in quite different environments but have little in common, are the main characters of the film. Tom is a dedicated fisherman who tries to make ends meet, whereas Charlie is a young man who has turned wild and reckless and has fallen into a life of crime. The brothers decide to band together in order to bargain with a violent Boston mob boss.
