June Squibb plays Thelma Post, a ninety-three-year-old grandma who loses $10,000 as a result of falling for a phone hoax. Thelma won’t let go of the tragedy, even though her son-in-law Alan, Clark Gregg, granddaughter Daniel, Fred Hechinger, and daughter Gail, Parker Posey, all push her to move on. With just a P.O. box, she sets out on a mission to find the con artists in an effort to recover her money. Ben, played by Richard Roundtree, is an old acquaintance of Thelma’s who initially thinks her scheme is ridiculous. But after hearing that Thelma plans to use his mobility scooter, he makes the decision to leave the assisted living facility and go with her on a leisurely ride through the city.
