Robbie, a mechanic, is tired of living in the 1980s and seeks solace from her next-door neighbor Ty, a weird man with an intriguing business pitch. Ty’s life is brightened by his friendship with Sheila, a single mother of two who is suspicious of men but attracted by Ty, who freely pulls inspiration for Beanie from Sheila’s young girls.
