Five years ago, Jake helped his superior, Tom, escape a terrible circumstance by barely surviving a military operation in Afghanistan. He currently supports his wife and son by working at Uncle Earl’s auto repair shop, but the mounting debt is making it difficult for him to do so. When Jake arrives home one evening to discover his family has been murdered, he is devastated. He had been mingling with gangbangers who were trying to harass Earl for money they believed he owed them.
