The story mostly takes place at Vincent, a retired criminal,’s holiday home in rural Maine. Sandy, his second wife, and DJ, his adolescent stepson, are with him. In the middle of the night, Vincent’s first wife, Ruth, who seems to be under the influence of narcotics, and his adult son, Rocco, show up out of the blue with his pregnant girlfriend, Marina. Many questions are raised by this circumstance, but Rocco says he only wants a family get-together. But the truth quickly becomes apparent: he is avoiding Vincent’s old friend Lefty, who is accompanied by a careless young assassin named Lonnie who lacks any moral values.
