At the beginning of the film, Ricky Stanicky isn’t truly a character name. Three young men, anxious to get out of trouble after a botched “poop bag on fire” joke, dreamed up this scapegoat. The three have come to rely on Ricky for all of their misdeeds and poor choices over the years. Even as adults, Dean, JT, and Wes still use Ricky as an excuse to keep themselves apart from their families; in reality, this is merely a front to allow them to travel on enjoyable trips, attend sporting events, and attend concerts.
