Storyline: Plainclothes 2025: In the mid-90’s a young undercover cop named Lucas has an odd but very important role to play. Essentially, he must approach gay men and lure them into committing acts that he will later report on. He has to pretend that he is interested in the men while secretly gathering evidence. Eventually, he grows close to one of his targets. He begins to grow authentic fondness and attachment to this man. After spending time together, Lucas’s secret life becomes something unsettling. He is on the one hand just following directives to entrap people in a crime for his job. On the other hand realizing the person he cares about is a flesh and blood, vulnerable human being. Lucas is caught between doing his police duty and his heart. He also breaks rules and codes of conduct in his refusal to deceive. Lucas risks everything with his decision to be genuine in that moment. He may be punished and lose his job or career. But he feels he needs do follow his gut on what feels right, even if it runs afoul of his job.
