Jack and Alice live in the Victory Project, a 1950s planned community in a California desert. Their neighbours include Bunny and Bill. Jack works at Victory and leaves every morning with the other men, leaving the wives in charge of taking care of household duties. Alice is just as submissive as the other ladies. She notices that Margaret, who is becoming uneasy and attempting to speak to the group but whose husbands are refusing to let her, is looking to Victory Project leader Frank for advice. The disappearance of Margaret from the neighbourhood unsettles Alice, who starts to feel off about her marriage and her surroundings while looking for answers around people who might not be reliable.
