Grafted 2025: In this movie, Wei, a young Chinese student, lives with her aunt and cousin after receiving a scholarship to New Zealand. She chose to carry on her late father’s studies because he was a brilliant scientist. He experimented with skin grafting. Wei grew up watching her father, work endlessly to create a skin graft technique that would heal the facial abnormality. She also saw the experiment’s terrible failure, as her father died after the living tissue he produced spread across his face. The body-horror movie Grafted explores issues of acceptance, identity, attractiveness, and even xenophobia.
